Q: Why do I crave fatty foods?
A: Skipping meals or eliminating fat altogether from your diet can have you craving greasy food faster than you can say, well, fat. “Every cell membrane in your body is partially made of fat, which means you can’t heal or replace a cell without this key building block,” according to NY-based RD, Cynthia Sass. “Good fats also help reduce inflammation, a known trigger of premature aging, and disease,” she says.
That being said, to keep your body satiated, eat every 3 to 5 hours and round out every meal with some of these “good” fats. Try munching on olives, toss in some avocado to your omelet, spreading whole grain toast with pesto or whipping almond butter or coconut oil into a smoothie.
